Ignite Creativity By: Carlos Machado
Creativity came in different forms for many students. Whether it was in
the classroom, on the streets of Miami, or in the art studio. Senior Carlos Machado
specialized in a graffiti style of art. Unconventional to the classic style of painting,
Machado was drawn to works of mixed media with vibrant colors. His unique style
resonated through his many canvas works.
“I try to incorporate real people and events in all of my work,” said Machado.
In the multimedia center senior Santiago Muñoz perfected his craft of
filmmaking. Muñoz wrote and developed ideas for countless films. His creativity
shone through with a video camera in his hands.
“In my process of making films, ideas comes to me at any moment,” said
Muñoz.
His spontaneous process of making films enhanced the creativity in his
work. He has also worked on multiple ads and music videos to build his portfolio.
For senior Luis Mathison, the streets were his canvas. His creativity stretched
far beyond the streets of Miami. As a photographer amassing over 2,000 followers
on Instagram alone, Mathison has already built a reputation.
“Traveling to places like Chicago, California, and New York has really opened
my mind to different styles of photography,” said Mathison.
However, his pictures and reputation stemmed from his roots on the streets
of South Beach and Downtown, Miami. Mathison wanted to show a different
perspective of the city he grew up in by shooting pictures of the people and places
not usually seen in ads or on television.
“The culture in Miami is unmatched,” said Mathison. “The streets are perfect
for capturing the best portraits and abstract photos.”
