College Bound
By: Joseph Cruz
Junior year marked the beginning of the ever important
college process. During this year, students began to work on
their college essay, took SAT/ACT prep classes, explored college
campuses, and became familiar with the college counseling
department. Recommendation letters were requested, and
many students even went on several college visits.
“The best advice is to determine your skills and decide
what schools allow you to apply those skills,” said junior Breton
Mullis.
Although there were many students who had not
chosen a major, or even knew what they were going to be
doing later in life, junior year was a reasonable time to begin to
explore possible careers and the colleges that could take them
to those careers. The college counseling department even
hosted a number of events and tours throughout the year to
help the juniors decide the paths that they would be taking.
“The college process may be intimidating but you must
be persistent,” said junior Alejandro Toyos.
The college process was a long and tedious one, filled
with both excitement and anxiety. As most juniors found out, it
was better to get started early, before time ran out.
