Drowning the Competition

            Dominating their season and placing second at
            States, the school’s swim team made it clear
            that they were among Florida’s elite.  With a
            predominantly young team, the future looks
            bright for this top contender.
            Above: Placing first in the 200yd freestyle, junior Aitor Fungairino
            secures a  gold medal for the swim team at the State Championship.
            On the opposite page: At the State Championship, seniors Daniel
            Simpson, Max Garcia del Pozo, Juan Ramirez, and Alejandro Carriazo
            win the silver in the 200yd medley relay.
            Leading the competition, Max Garcia del Pozo swims the 100yd fly.
            Garcia del Pozo signed a letter of intent to swim for Marist College.
            In competition, senior Andres Solares swims the 100yd backstroke.
            During a practice session, senior Christopher Avallone works on
            perfecting the breast stroke.
            Dominating his main race, senior Juan Ramirez swims the 100yd
            breaststroke.  Due to his time in the medley relay, Ramirez qualified to
            be an All American Athlete.
