New Coach . . . New Beginnings

            Varsity went all the way to the regional quarter final
            where they fell short. Varsity’s new head coach Gaston
            “Chachi” Rodriguez led the team to a very successful
            season  facing  some  of  the  most  competitive  rivals  in
            the district.  The team went 9-3 in the district and 17-9
            overall.

            ball up. Carrillo was the starting center and led in rebounds per game.
            On the opposite page: On the three point line, junior Marcos Dajer
            shoots the ball. Dajer was one of the starting guards on the team.
            Driving in for a lay up, senior Maurice Milton puts the ball in the basket.
            Milton was one of the team captains.
            During the district finals against Doral, senior Michael Sueiro drives
            towards the basket. Sueiro made 63% of his shots for 2 point baskets.
            With a jump shot, senior Matthew Bravo picks up points for the team.
            Bravo made 40% of his 3 point shots last season.
            Posting up in a district game, senior Alejandro Barnola keeps the defense
            at bay.  Barnola led the team in rebounds with 50 throughout the season.
            Dribbling up the court, senior Teobaldo Rosell looks for an open
            teammate. Rosell was a major asset to the team’s offense, making 57%

            In district final game, senior Javier Torres de Navarra pulls up for a three.
            Torres de Navarra led the senior class in scoring with 8.6 points per
            game.
