Another Shot At Redemption
This year’s baseball team went through a
rough start with a few losses, but they found By: Alejandro Pena and Giancarlo Benitez
their way mid season, and they never looked
back. The team went on a big winning streak
entering the playoffs.
Above: Leaping in the air, senior Erick Wilson makes a remarkable play
to get the out. Wilson helped the offense with a high batting average
and by hitting lead off.
On the opposite page:
Turning hard on a fastball, senior Carlos Vazquez gets a hit. Vazquez, in
his fourth year at the varsity level, carried the offense and led the team
in batting average.
Winding up, senior Michael Cabeza loads up to fire the fastball for a
strike. Cabeza threw 2 complete games on the season, one of them
being a no-hitter.
Rounding the bases, senior Gabriel Trastoy takes his time getting home
after hitting a home run. Trastoy had been on the varsity team for the
past two years.
Taking a swing at the ball, senior Carlos Lara gets the base hit. Lara led
the team in triples.
Releasing the ball, senior Daniel Brown, throws the pitch. Brown used
his submarine mechanics to throw off the batters.
Exploding on the ball, senior Marcus Diaz, muscles through for a hit.
Diaz was a major threat on the bases, and was never caught stealing. Roster: Alexis Agreda, Armando Albert, Jose Arevalo, Alec Arrizurieta, Jonathan Barditch, Daniel Brown, Michael Cabeza, Gabriel de Zendegui,
Getting under the ball, junior Humberto Torres gets the out, ready to Marcus Diaz, Andrew Hernandez, Carlos Lara, James Mullis, Sean Riera, Joshua Salandy, Alejandro Torres, Humberto Torres, Gabriel Trastoy,
throw the runner out for a double play. Torres was a major power Carlos Vazquez, Erick Wilson, and Christian Winch. Coaches: Gerard Albert, Ivan Montane, and Paul Barnes.
